Youthful music promoters Boss Gaga — real name — Itai Chirombe and his brother Tendai last weekend invaded the dormitory town of Chitungwiza where they denounced abuse of drugs by the youths through a free show at Unit L community hall.
They also donated groceries to senior citizens as a way of making them comfortable during the festive season.
In an interview Tendai said its his wish to see a drug free generation in Zimbabwe and a better future for the youths.
“We (youths) are the future leaders of this country and it pains me to see people with potential losing their direction.
“We are touring the country encouraging the youths to value their lives. Our President frequently remind us that we are the future of the country so we are just reminding our fellow youths to desist from drugs.
“We also encouraged them to desist from other social evils like robbery, prostitution and even child marriages. We need to shape our future for the better of tomorrow,” he said.
He added: “We decided to have a dialogue with the youths and here their concerns. Our wish is to have a better tomorrow and we are reminding them about the dangers of drugs.”
Similar sentiments were echoed by Boss Gaga.
“Its not like we have everything at our disposal but we have decided to share the little we have with these old people.
“These groceries are our Christmas gifts to them as a token of appreciation for raising us (senior citizens).
“Our aim is to see every Zimbabwean comfortable and getting all the basics for survival. We have shared the little we have with people from Chitungwiza but we are not stopping there. We have engaged artistes from Chitungwiza to entertain people during our engagement ceremony with the youths,” he said.
Some of the artistes who graced the event include Stunner, Ricky Fire, Hwinza, Junior Spraga and Flex T among others.
Senator for Harare Metropolitan Province Omega Sipani-Hungwe also graced the event and encouraged the youths to stay focused.
She also denounced the consumption of drugs for the better development of the country. Boss Gaga Empowerment Development is not knew to help the people in needy.
During the lockdowns they toured the ghettos donating groceries to artistes.
The brothers are also known for holding gigs which seek to promote unity among musicians. Boss Gaga also urges people who have not been vaccinated to do so in a bid to combat Covid-19.
“This Covid-19 thing has slowed our progress as the country, continent and the world at large.
“To all those who have not been vaccinated I urge them to do so for the future’s sake. We need to move forward as a country and let’s continue to follow all the orders from the health experts as well as the government. Its an added advantage if we avoid unnecessary movements, gatherings, proper wearing of masks and sanitizing our hands,” he said.
