CHROME Stars put up a good performance to beat asbestos miners, Gaths Mine 2-1 away in Mashava at the weekend.
Gaths Mine had earlier sent shockwaves in the Zifa Central Soccer League when they pummelled newcomers Chomumvuri Pirates 5-1 inthe season opener.
But the latest result saw the Mashava-based side relinquish top spot on the log standings.
The visitors drew first blood through Kudzai Matore before the asbestos miners levelled proceedings through Philemon Madeza.
Kwekwe-based Chrome Stars then settled matters towards the end of the game through Tendai Mukaratigwa to collect maximum points.
League returnees Blanket Mine were also in an uncompromising mood and were this week’s biggest scorers after walloping ZRP Beitbridge 4-2 on the road at Dulibadzimu Stadium.
Army side, Tongogara were the only home side to register a win after accounting for Chomumvuri Pirates. Tongogara powered to the top of the log standings thanks to the 2-0 result.
Three other matches recorded identical one-all scorelines.
FC Platinum Under-19s recorded their second draw of the season against MSU. The young platinum miners opened their account with another one-all draw against Vumbachikwe last week.
In other matches Hwahwa and Gweru City achieved the same result while Vumbachikwe were also held to a one-all draw by Silo United.
Town United, for the second week running, failed to fulfil a fixture, this time around against Nkayi United. They subsequently forfeited the match on a three-nil scoreline in favour of the Midlanders.
According to the league’s rules and regulations any side which fails to fulfil three consecutive matches automatically expels itself from the league.
