Mai Chisamba comes to Byo

POPULAR ZBCtv talk show host Rebecca Chisamba popularly known as Mai Chisamba will be in Bulawayo this afternoon to record two episodes of her show at the Rainbow Movie Theatre. Mai Chisamba invited people from Bulawayo through her Facebook page to attend her live recording.

“Dear viewers, you are invited on June 6 to Rainbow Cinemas, 44 Bulawayo Centre, corner Joshua Nkomo/9th Ave.
“We shall be in Bulawayo from 1.30PM, to discuss issues to do with accidents on our roads, especially the kombis and buses.

“We will also discuss how to lecture grown up children. You should all come so we discuss together,” wrote Mai Chisamba on her Facebook fan page.

This will be her first time to record her show in Bulawayo after over 10 years.
Mai Chisamba, a decorated television personality and a teacher by training, has scooped numerous awards for her role as the executive producer and host of the premier Mai Chisamba talk show.

The show tackles topical issues of the day that affect the modern Zimbabwean society.
A mother of five and a grandmother of two, Mai Chisamba has been honoured for upholding traditional African values and local languages, and for using the mass media effectively in advocating for a gender balanced society.

With a bubbly personality, the conservationist has in the past paid homage to her family and husband, Arnold Chisamba, for their unstinting support in the face of fame that comes with challenges to her personal life.

Mai Chisamba was born in Bindura in 1952 to a family of seven. She started her education at Bindura Salvation Army Primary School and did her secondary education at Usher Girls’ High in Matabeleland. She trained as a teacher at Howard Institute. She taught for 15 years before exchanging the chalk for the microphone, although she did not have any training in television.

She immediately became a hit, through the experience she gathered during her days as a radio teacher under the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture. She later became a radio presenter for numerous programmes at ZBC and introduced the Mai Chisamba Show at ZBC, before going independent after establishing Chisamba Productions and Media Consultancy.
