Chunga loses first game

Tichwell Madhazi scored the all important second half goal for the hosts at Duramana Stadium in Chipinge to hand Hippo Valley their first defeat of the season.
Before this defeat, Hippo Valley had just dropped two in a drawn encounter while they had won the rest of the games.

Hippo Valley, however, remain on top of the log as they will play back-to-back fixtures with South Downs in their next match at Chishamiso.
But the day belonged to South Downs, whose secretary, Begin Soko, yesterday remained humble in even after posting one of the most stunning results of the weekend.

“We are just a team of upstarts and with few people gave us a chance against Hippo Valley. In a football match, there are three results to be expected — a draw, a win or a defeat.

“For us the victory was a big morale booster but we still respect Hippo Valley because they are our elder brothers and log leaders,” said Soko. Soko warned Hippo Valley not to underrate them when they clash in the return leg.

“We never had much time to talk to Chunga after the game but I guess they were not expecting the result. “But I think Hippo Valley should be better prepared in the reverse fixture because we can still shock them. “I hope we will play our normal game and a win will be a bonus,” said Soko yesterday.
