Johanne the 5th of Africa International Church, led by Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu, has rallied congregants to support Constitutional Amendment No.3 Bill at the peak of the “Restoration and Go Back to Sender” conference in Masvingo over the weekend.

Thousands of congregants thronged the venue for the Big Sunday Service, marking the end of a three-day conference that began on May 1.

The Archbishop’s arrival triggered wild celebrations, with congregants breaking into song and dance while waving placards bearing messages such as “Cab 3 Huchi,” “Cab 3 Bho,” and “2030 Cab 3 J5 in Full Support,” in an apparent show of solidarity with the proposed constitutional changes.

The conference drew participants from across the country and focused on spiritual renewal and empowerment.

Addressing the congregation, Archbishop Makururu urged members to back the Bill and remain united.

“This Bill is for the good of the nation as it was prophesied long ago by the Holy spirit. It is meant to bring order, progress and continuity in our country,” he said.

“As a church, we support initiatives that promote peace, unity and development, and this is one such measure. We must stand together as Zimbabweans and support what is good for our country. This is a time to move forward with one vision.”

The Archbishop said the proposed constitutional changes should be viewed as part of broader efforts to strengthen governance and improve livelihoods.

“Development comes when there is stability and clear direction. This Bill seeks to consolidate that, and as citizens, we have a duty to support national programmes that uplift communities.”

Archbishop Makururu also called for discipline and unity among congregants and said the church has a role to play in shaping a responsible society.

“As the church, we preach peace, respect and unity. Let us continue to uphold these values and support leadership in building a prosperous Zimbabwe.”

The Archbishop also urged the youth to take an active role in national development.

“The future of this country lies in your hands. Support initiatives that create opportunities and ensure a better tomorrow for all,” he said.
