THE Jehovah’s Witness Church has distanced itself from Michael Makahwi of Kariba.

Apparently, Makahwi, whose nude video masturbating went viral on social media, had left the church by the time he performed his act.

Initial reports had suggested that he was still a church member and this controversy had led him to be kicked out.

However, the church’s spokesperson, John Hanguka, said Makahwi had ceased being a member of the church by the time he recorded his video of shame.

“We admit that we once fellow-shipped with him for some time, but he terminated his membership on May 31.

“We don’t want our church to be associated with that person or behaviour,” he said.

Makahwi became the talk of Kariba after his video was leaked.

He told H-Metro that his nude video had shamed his family.

He blamed his former girlfriend for the leak, saying she had promised to “fix” him after he had resisted her blackmailing attempts.
