WOMEN must be empowered to take leadership positions in the church, founder of the Daughters Convention of Worshipers (DCW), Prophetess Patricia Imbeah, has said.
Speaking during the ordination and consecration service for DCW’s seven new pastors in Harare yesterday, Prophetess Imbeah said the organisation, which was founded in 2008, seeks to unite women who have the zeal to work for God. “DCW is about vessels of worshippers, women who have come together and said our mission is to worship. We want to know everything about the Kingdom of God, and want to be in His presence. The organisation is non-denominational, it has members from different churches and countries.” Prophetess Imbeah said women are great leaders if given the opportunity.
“We live in a society where there are so much structures, stigma and cultural traditions which limit women from what they want to do. In DCW, we see ourselves as children and vessels of God and nothing can limit us.”
She said the inaugural ordination should encourage other women to discover their mandate in the Kingdom of God.
“It’s our first ordination and we pray to God we can continue to have more. This should encourage other women to liberate themselves and find their own path in order to prepare themselves so that when the day of reckoning comes we will be recognised,” said Prophetess Imbeah.
Trainer of the newly ordained pastors, Doctor Elias Chakabwata, said the church is now transforming to incorporate more women in leadership positions.
