Church must help women win freedom: Pastor

Entertainment Reporter
PASTOR and author Norman Musiiwa  has  challenged the church to help women in their quest for total freedom.
Pastor Musiiwa was speaking at the launch of his book, Battlefront Woman, held at Seke Teachers’ College in Chitungwiza recently.
“Let the church stand up and assist the woman in her quest for total freedom,” he said.
“It is, however, spiritual emancipation that comes first before we talk of social freedom.”
He urged women to take an active role in economic issues, as these not only affected their homes but also the nation as a whole.
Pastor Musiiwa said it was this issue that  inspired him to write the book.
“The woman should place herself on a pedestal so that she can participate actively on the economic fora.
“She should adopt and maintain a dynamic, positive and productive character change,” he said.
Pastor Musiiwa lamented how women were subjected to all forms of abuse.
He noted how traditional society subjected women and the girl child to oppressive tendencies that militated against their progress in life.
“Traditional society has been overly unfair and very oppressive on the woman.
“Her problems dated back into cultural history. If these abuses were not exposed and brought to the awareness of the girl child, she would be tormented into restlessness, even as ‘A Christian’.”
He said his book was aimed at helping women identify and solve these pro-blems.
