CHRIST Embassy Greystone Park Church will on July 12 host a major community outreach programme aimed at providing spiritual and practical support to vulnerable members of society through a day of worship, free social services and community engagement.
The outreach, themed “Come As You Are”, is expected to draw residents from Borrowdale District and across Greater Harare, with organisers saying the initiative is designed to demonstrate God’s love through tangible acts of compassion while bringing together people from all walks of life.
The programme will begin with a Sunday worship service at 9am at Greystone Park Primary School Hall before participants access a range of free services, including medical consultations, clothing distribution, beauty treatments, haircuts and meals. A community football tournament will also run until 4pm.
Organisers said admission and all services offered during the event would be free of charge.
Speaking ahead of the outreach, the church’s pastor said the initiative seeks to reach beyond conventional church ministry by addressing both the spiritual and physical needs of people facing difficult circumstances.
“This programme is a practical demonstration of the love of God for humanity. We believe the Gospel should not only nourish the spirit but also bring hope and practical assistance to those facing life’s challenges,” he said.
The pastor said the outreach would particularly seek to restore hope to individuals who have become discouraged by economic and social hardships.
Among those expected to attend are personalities from Zimbabwe’s entertainment and sporting fraternity who have experienced difficult periods in their lives.
“We want them to know that God still loves them and that it is never too late to rise again. We have the Word of grace that builds people up, not one that condemns or judges,” he said.
The church has also appealed to professionals and volunteers willing to contribute their skills in counselling, beauty therapy, hair cutting and community support to partner in the outreach.
Organisers said even those without specialised skills could make a meaningful contribution by simply spending time listening to people and offering encouragement.
The theme, “Come As You Are”, is intended to reassure people from every background that they are welcome, regardless of their circumstances or previous experiences.
“Whether it is your first time in church, whether you belong to another denomination, whether you have been hurt before or are simply going through a difficult season, you are welcome. Just come as you are,” the organisers said.
The outreach is inspired by Isaiah 55:1, which invites all people to come freely and receive without cost, a scripture organisers said reflects the spirit of the day’s activities.
Preparations for the event are at an advanced stage, with church members and volunteers mobilising resources to ensure the success of what is expected to be one of Christ Embassy Greystone Park’s largest community outreach programmes this year.
The initiative reflects Christ Embassy’s broader vision of demonstrating God’s love through community engagement and humanitarian service.
The organisers have invited families, young people, senior citizens and members of the public to attend, saying the event will provide an opportunity for worship, fellowship, networking and renewed hope within the community.
