Churches donate to Ingutsheni hospital

THE Zimbabwe Council of Churches in Greater Bulawayo have  donated an assortment of goods to Ingutsheni Central Hospital.
The patients received jerseys, soap, pairs of shoes, sanitary pads and other toiletries after a short church service at the institution’s hall on Tuesday last week.
The vice-chairlady of Greater Bulawayo churches, Mrs Tsitsi Mudawapi (52), said the gesture was a way of remembering the needy by the 11 churches in the group during this winter season.

“This is our way to help our fellow brothers and sisters who are patients at the hospital. This initiative has seen us grow our Christian faith under our different churches,” said Mrs Mudawapi.

The treasurer, Mrs Nomusa Mtshede (53) said Greater Bulawayo was launched last year in June.
“This is our first time to donate at Ingutsheni, but we hope to do more here and around the city. We encourage other churches to join us in the fight to making living better for our needy brothers and sisters,” said Mrs Mtshede.

The director of operations at Ingutsheni, Mr Nyasha Chibvongodze expressed gratitude to the churches.
“This is a very welcome donation that will go a long way considering the trying period the hospital is facing. It is very difficult to take care of mentally challenged patients without adequate resources so we appeal to the public to mobilise resources in cash or kind to assist the patients who are largely dependant on Government funding,” said Mr Chibvongodze.
