PRIVATE medical aid society, health and wellness service provider Cimas Health Group has launched a mobile clinic to complement Government efforts in providing quality health services to remote areas.

The mobile clinic which was exhibited at the just-ended Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS) has two units, one for General Practitioner consultation and another for dental services.

Speaking during a media tour hosted by Cimas at the ZAS yesterday, the company’s group chief marketing officer, Mrs Tatenda Madzikanda said the mobile clinic was introduced following feedback from members of the society in remote areas.

“Since the set-up of the mobile clinic, we have done a few pilot visits to areas outside Harare for us to be able to test the product and get feedback in the market.

“So, the feedback is overwhelming, we are now at a stage where we are coming up with a schedule to be able to notify the market of the areas we will be visiting. We do this so that when we are coming to their areas they can then be prepared to access the services,” she said.

The mobile clinic which has been taken to Mhondoro and other areas as part of the initial pilot stages is offered to both members and non-members.

Mrs Madzikanda said the initiative seeks to plug gaps in health services provision.

“As Cimas we also participate in health care provision and we do understand that there is infrastructure that has been put in place by our Government to take care of the Zimbabwe population at large. We also understand that other private players are playing in the same field as we are but we do believe that there are gaps within those areas. That’s why we came up with this mobile clinic to also cater for people not covered.”

Powered by a generator, the mobile clinic has running water, an air conditioner and a couch among other accessories.

Cimas Health Group chief executive, Mr Vulindlela Ndlovu said the clinic revolutionises the way medical services are provided directly to the communities.

“Using this mobile clinic bridges the health care gap and ensures that even the most vulnerable populations can receive the medical attention they deserve conveniently.”
