CIMAS Health Group has acquired the Highlands Wellness Group facility in order to extend its medical coverage to include rehabilitation services for alcohol and drug abuse patients.
The facility will be transformed into a world-class centre offering specialised skills for both residents and outpatients.
The move is in response to alarming increases of alcohol and substance abuse in Zimbabwe.
Only CIMAS medical aid card holders will be able to access the services.
It said its members will benefit from evidenced-based therapies on offer as part of these rehabilitation programmes and that it is committed to delivering global standard health and wellness solutions for them.
CIMAS managing director, Tinotenda Mushapaidze, said they want to promote a holistic recovery.
“Through this strategic acquisition of Highlands Wellness Group, a renowned and trusted provider of mental health and rehabilitation services, CIMAS aims to alleviate the financial burden faced by individuals seeking help and improve their chances of successful recovery.
“The alarming increase in cases of alcohol and substance abuse in Zimbabwe, particularly during the challenging period of the Covid-19 pandemic, has highlighted the urgent need for accessible and effective rehabilitation services,” said Mushapaidze.
The company says its members will benefit from the evidenced based therapies on offer.
“By covering the costs of these services, CIMAS is removing a significant barrier and promoting a more inclusive approach to healthcare,” he said.
CIMAS recently launched the “It’s Never Too Late. Say No To Drugs,” campaign which features hip hop stars Holy Ten and Asaph.
