Pop singer Cindy Munyavi is throwing a big party this Friday for winning her first Afrima award.
Cindy won the Best Female in Southern Africa award at the Afrima ceremony held recently in Nigeria. The party, scheduled for Sphinx Club, is strictly by invite.
Spencer Madziya, one of the organisers, said the party will be graced by socialites, musicians and celebrities among others.
“We saw it necessary to host Cindy’s party to celebrate her success. It is a big achievement not only for her but also to the nation. The party will be strictly by invite though many would want to come. We are going to invite musicians, socialites and celebrities,” he said.
Madziya said Cindy will however, not perform on the night.
“It is a party and she will be treated like royalty. The entertainment line up will also be revealed in due course,” he said.
He said the reason for a guest list was to make the party as classy as possible so that it attracts the right people.
“It is a continental award and we want to recognise it as such. We will be running with the theme, ‘Classy-elegant’ celebrating Afrima in Zimbabwe courtesy of Cindy. We have involved the VIP hosting team to assist with some of the décor,” said Madziya.
The “Parere Moyo” hitmaker was ecstatic about the honour.
“I am excited about the party. It is a great honour for me and I am looking forward to it. When I came back last week I was welcomed by my parents and close friends of which I cried as was in shock.
I thought that was all but when I received news that Platinum Entertainment were throwing a party for me I then realised how important the award meant to a lot of people,” she said.
Cindy, who was nominated for awards locally, said the Afrima was the greatest of them all.
“Being the Best Female in Southern Africa is something else considering the great names that were in the same category. I am grateful that people voted for me,” she said.
