CIO operative dragged to court

A CENTRAL Intelligence Organisation official based in Plumtree Town appeared in court yesterday charged with assault.
Police officers escorted Kudakwashe Mutimusakwa, a Divisional Information Officer (DIO), from his office to appear before Plumtree magistrate, Livard Philemon after he was issued with a warrant of arrest on Thursday.
The complainant in the case is Norman Mlambo who caught Mutimusakwa having a nice time with his wife, Sibongile Gonde, at his home in Mathendele suburb early this year.

Prosecutor Elisha Mazorodze said on January 25, around 11PM, Mlambo went to his second wife Sibongile Gonde’s house and found Mutimusakwa in the bedroom.

“There was no electricity and he saw a candle light coming from the bedroom. He looked through the window and saw the accused person in bed with his wife,” said Mazorodze.

The CIO operative denied the charge and was remanded out of custody to May 20 for trial.
Mutimusakwa had been reluctant to come to court for some time until a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

According to the State when Mlambo found the pair in his house, the operative attempted to run away but was intercepted.
Mutimusakwa then allegedly assaulted Mlambo with Gonde’s help before getting into his car and speeding off, the court heard.

As he drove off, he allegedly ran over Mlambo’s foot, inflicting some bruises before leaving his girlfriend at the mercy of her husband.
Initially, Gonde laid assault charges against her husband who had beaten her up severely following the incident but later withdrew the charges.
