THE City of Harare has launched a blitz to enforce compliance to relevant by-laws by all businesses within the CBD, industrial areas and suburbs.
As part of the blitz, the City of Harare will undertake the following measures:
• The City of Harare will disconnect water from all commercial and industrial properties that are in rates arrears and have no valid business licenses.
• The City Health Department shall inspect premises and close down those operating without running water in contravention of the Public Health Act Chapter 15.17 and Harare licenced Premises By- Laws.
• Premises with more than one tenant are required to make sure that all of them pay their rates and business licences to avoid inconveniences caused by closure of the whole building due to non-compliance by some tenant(s).
• Those without valid business licences are urged to urgently visit our Rowan Martin building to regularise their operations and settle their arrears.
• The City, under the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ approach, has established a dedicated desk to assist in the business licence applications and renewals to speed up the process.
• Businesspeople are advised to pay licences at the City of Harare offices and desist from illegally paying through unscrupulous individuals masquerading as enforcement agencies.
The city authorities said those who want clarifications should “contact the Acting Revenues Manager Mr Guni and for business licences, Mr Manyara.”
