Lovemore Chazingwa in KADOMA
THE City of Kadoma has finally rolled out a prepaid parking scheme in the Central Business District (CBD).
The move is meant to boost the coffers of the City Council and also try to tame the traffic jungle in the CBD.
The development is a culmination of protracted negotiations on traffic management in the city.
This will be a Public Private Partnership deal between the local authority and City Parking (Pvt) Ltd.
Kadoma Mayor, Cllr Nigel Ruzario, hailed the arrangement.
“The programme started two weeks ago although we are still facing some challenges, especially with regards to exemptions for senior citizens.”
The city has for a long time bemoaned the low revenue inflows as a result of glaring loopholes in the collection system.
A snap survey among residents has been welcome by a wider section of both the business and motoring communities.
There have been concerns about congestion in the Kadoma CBD with more cars now on the road.
