Harare City Council has appointed a special committee to seek audience with Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Dr Ignatius Chombo regarding several council trips that have failed to secure Cabinet approval.
City officials and councillors were recently denied Cabinet Authority to travel to South Africa, South Korea, Rwanda and Ethiopia.

In South Africa they wanted to attend conferences on HIV and Aids and Ebola while in South Korea they sought cultural exchange programmes.

Furthermore, the city wanted to pursue twinning arrangements with Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and Kigali (Rwanda).

According to the minutes of the Human Resources and General Purpose Committee of September 15, councillors discussed various proposed trips that Cabinet authority was denied.
