PROMINENT Bulawayo lawyer Mr Job Sibanda, of Job Sibanda and Associates lost his wife in a car accident on Tuesday.The accident occurred at about 12 noon at the robot controlled intersection along Khami Road near Trek Garage in Mpopoma.
The car was being driven by her driver, Mr Evaristo Chisango, who escaped with minor injuries.
Mr Sibanda confirmed the death of his wife, Mrs Sithokozile Sibanda (50) who was a prominent businesswoman in the city, running the popular Burgersdrop Restaurant at the corner of Main Street and 1st Avenue.
Mr Sibanda said his wife died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mater Dei Hospital.
“I understand it happened at the robot controlled intersection along Khami Road at about 12 noon. She was coming from Mpopoma and a car that was coming from the left rammed into the passenger side where she was sitting resulting in her car turning to the opposite direction.
She was flung out of the car and was injured. She was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where she later died. I arrived at the hospital at about 12.30pm and she was in terrible pain though conscious. They said she had fractured a number of ribs and was transferred to the ICU where she lost consciousness,” said a devastated Mr Sibanda.
He said he had lost a pillar of strength.
“She was a businesswoman in her own right. I am devastated, she was my pillar. I am what I am because of her,” said Mr Sibanda.
He said burial arrangements had not been finalised as the family was waiting for other relatives who are outside the country.
Mourners are gathered at House Number 51 Wistaria Drive, Harrisvale.
Mrs Sibanda is survived by her husband, two daughters Zimazile, Zinzile and a son Mphokuhle.
