THE City of Bulawayo says the hiring of 35 vehicles by CMED (Private) Limited for the national polio vaccination programme, expected to run from Monday to Friday next week, is nothing new or unique to Bulawayo.

This follows an advertisement by CMED (Private) Limited that reads that it was yesterday and today inspecting 35 double cabs and SUVs on behalf of the council’s upcoming five-day polio vaccination programme.

In an interview, the City of Bulawayo communications manager, Mrs Nesisa Mpofu, said the polio vaccination programme is a national programme, and no local authority has that number of specified vehicles on its fleet.

“The hiring and payment is done by the city on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Child Care, so is the programme,” she said.
