THE City of Harare is carrying out a major valve replacement at Inkomo take-off along the main water line from Morton Jaffray Water Works.

In a statement, Engineer Phakamile Mabhena Moyo said due to the severity of the nature of work, some pumps at Morton Jaffray will be shut off today at 6pm to allow for pipe scouring and subsequent replacement of the valve.

“Opening up of the lines will be on Saturday, April 18 at around 1 pm. During this period, residents in the CBD, Workington, Harare Hospital, Mbare, Graniteside, northern suburbs and surrounding areas will not be accessing water,” read the statement.

“Therefore residents are encouraged to sparingly use the water available before the shutdown comes into effect.
