City Parking, a subsidiary of the City of Harare, is the first local authority-owned company in Zimbabwe to receive the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, City Parking managing director Simon Muzviyo said the certification marked a significant step in the company’s journey to aligning with global standards.

“This started as a dream four years ago, and it is been a journey,” he said.

Though we have not reached the destination, today we celebrate the official handover of ISO 9001:2015 from the Standards Association of Zimbabwe.”

He said the certificate was not a destination but a stepping stone that comes with expectations of continuous improvement.

Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume hailed the certification as a symbol of transformation and credibility.

“This is a momentous occasion. It assures the public that our systems are in sync with international norms,” he said.

“City Parking has moved from being a chaotic start-up to a success story of what a municipal utility can become.”

Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) director-general Mr Cosmas Mukoyi said the certification placed City Parking on a global list of quality-driven organisations.

“ISO 9001 is the most sought-after quality management standard in the world, with over two million companies certified globally. City Parking now joins that league,” he said.

Mr Mukoyi applauded City Parking’s commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement and described the certification as both a reward and a responsibility.

“This certificate reflects your promise to stakeholders that you offer consistent, high-quality services. But it also marks the beginning of continuous performance measurement and improvement.”

Mr Mukoyi also encouraged the City of Harare to take advantage of SAZ services such as water testing and engineering standards to further the city’s smart development agenda.
