A 36-YEAR-OLD female police officer was shot dead by her husband in Hopley, Harare, on Sunday before he allegedly turned the gun on himself.
The deceased, Sergeant Portia Dzanwa, was allegedly shot by her husband, Pharaoh Dombodzvuku (52), who then attempted to commit suicide using the same CZ pistol.
According to the police, Dombodzvuku shot himself in the head after allegedly shooting his wife.
“After allegedly shooting his wife, the husband reportedly shot himself on the head using the same pistol. He was subsequently rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment under police guard and in a critical condition,” said police in a statement.
Police have since recovered the CZ pistol allegedly used in the shooting and launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
