HARARE has recorded 32 new cases of cholera, taking the total cumulative of confirmed cases to 2,557.
However, this marks a significant decline in cases since the roll out of the oral vaccination campaign.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said there were 46 suspected cases of cholera, with 23,853 recoveries, 71 confirmed deaths and 457 suspected deaths.
The Ministry is targeting to vaccinate 2.3 million people in most affected districts countrywide to achieve herd immunity.
So far more than 1.4 million have been vaccinated countrywide.
Cholera Incident Manager in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Dr Isaac Phiri, said there has been an increase of cases in the capital.
“We have predicted that by the end of March, the cases may not be a public health issue, especially with the roll out of the vaccination.
“We are seeing a decline in cases which are now hovering around 200 daily,” said Dr Phiri.
