URBAN grooves outfit, Xtra Large, says they feel they have managed to bridge the gap and are now relating to the current generation of music lovers.
The group’s last year releases — Blue Tick featuring Sani Makhalima and Mazikodobo featuring Jah Prayzah from their album Abnormal Load — has won them new and younger listeners.
The pair revealed that narrating current issues and giving a trendy feel has revamped their music and has made it appeal to the new crop of listeners.
Their newly-released song and video, Vachandibayabaya featuring Prelacy, is another of those compositions.
“The new song and video is about toxic relationships.
“As social commentators, we are addressing issues of ‘mjolo.’
“The visuals to the song illustrate these issues and as musicians we urge people to stay away from such relationships,” said one of the members, Jimmy.
The group is made up of childhood friends Jimmy and Norman.
It is celebrating 21 years in the music business this year.
“Twenty-one years in the game and having our old fans still supporting us, as well as relating to new generation listeners, is something we are grateful for and really appreciate.
“To all our fans we say thank you and keep supporting us.
“We will be releasing more music and videos as the year progresses,” added Norman.
