City shuts down water lines

Harare City Council has temporarily shut down two water lines servicing Letombo and three lines servicing Alex Park reservoirs.

The shutdowns were done to allow repairs of the 750mm pumping mains near Houghton Park, an air valve at AFM Warren Park and within Warren Control largely to reduce water losses.

Council spokesperson, Innocent Ruwende, said any inconvenience caused during the shutdowns was sincerely regretted.

“We hereby advise you of an urgent total shutdown planned from 4pm tomorrow (yesterday) to 4pm February 2, and February 4 at 4pm to February 5 at 4pm for Letombo and Alex lines respectively.

“The above pipework’s affects Willowvale, Highfield, parts of Mbare, Sunningdale, Msasa, Hatfield, Craneborne, Arcadia, Houghton Park, Southerton, Harare Hospital, Waterfalls, Graniteside, Hillside, parts of Eastlea and surrounding areas.

“Affected areas on Saturday include CBD, Milton Park, Westlea, Warren Park, Tynwald, Bluffhill, Malbereign, Haig Park, Sentosa, Westgate, Alex Park and surrounding areas,” he said.
