THE City2City Tour has officially arrived in Harare, following its exciting inception in Chinhoyi in March.

Initially conceived as an experiment by a quartet of talented chanters — Freeman, Master H, Killer T and Enzo Ishall — this innovative project seeks to promote their music directly in major towns and cities across Zimbabwe where they seldom perform.

Freeman, known for his successful series of shows with the HKD Band, inspired his fellow artistes with the belief that they could succeed without relying on seasoned promoters.

Since its launch, the quartet has performed in several cities, including Masvingo, Bindura, Chinhoyi and Mutare.

This Saturday, they will take to the stage at the Harare International Conference Centre.

In a departure from previous tours, the Harare leg will feature two of the most prominent female artistes in the industry — Nisha Ts and Tamy Moyo — who will share the spotlight with their male counterparts.

Supported by Gateway Stream Music, this event promises to be a vibrant celebration of talent and entertainment.

Whether you love them or loathe them, it’s undeniable that this new generation of showbiz stars has made a significant impact, captivating audiences wherever they go.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the Harare leg, all the artistes in the line-up were in buoyant spirits.

“We are raring to go and ready for the show. Fans just need to be here and see for themselves. I am always ready for such a performance,” Nisha Ts stressed during the press conference.

“It’s also an honour to share the stage with the best of the best at this event. You can’t afford to miss this one if you want real fun.”

Master H, whose stock continues to rise with each year, was also in high spirits, declaring: “You can tell from this strong line-up that it’s not a kids’ game this Saturday. I urge fans to come in numbers and witness the best we can offer in music. It’s a strong line-up that also boasts some talented ladies this time around.”

Killer T, who prefers to call himself Shasha — loosely translated to “genius” in vernacular — declared: “Shasha inenge iriko. (The genius will be there in full force). I urge fans to come and see what we have been doing over the past years.

“Harare fans will likely see us in December if they don’t come and grace this event because other towns are waiting for us. It’s not an ordinary show; we have invested a lot in this initiative, which needs your support.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by popular hype man Merciless Zimbabwe, who is part of the line-up.

“I have been travelling with these guys since the inception of the City2City Tour, and I can safely say a lot has changed among these artistes in terms of performances, energy levels and commitment.

“Those who attended the previous shows can attest that the Killer T you used to know is no longer the same, while the likes of Master H, Enzo Ishall and of course the big boss Freeman are now at another level,” emphasised Merciless Zimbabwe.

In an interview after the press conference, Freeman, who has the capacity to hold solo shows with his band, assured fans of a fun-filled night.

“We are calling upon our loyal fans to come and have fun with us now that we are performing in Harare with my crew.

“It’s something I have been longing for over the years — for us as artistes to do something on our own and learn how it is done.

“All the stars in the line-up will perform, but the aim of this movement is to ensure that we bring about unity among youthful musicians so that we can build a strong legacy,” he explained.

He, however, conceded that the road was bumpy, despite attracting large crowds wherever they performed.

“To be honest, organising a show comes with its challenges because we are supposed to incur a lot of expenses for security, police, PA systems and lights. In my case, I have mastered this because sometimes I organise my own shows, and I know how it is when organising a show,” Freeman admitted.

“From my experience, I have noted that we should not only wait for promoters or corporate events because we have families to feed. In our industry, most of us are living from hand to mouth, and staying home means we are likely to starve.”

He added: “This movement does not mean we are no longer dealing with promoters, but we can also do partnerships and our vision is to reach every corner of Zimbabwe. After the Harare show, we have something lined up for Bulawayo, Beitbridge, Kadoma, Karoi and other towns where we are needed. “By the end of the year, it is my wish that we would have toured many parts of Zimbabwe where we are greatly needed.”

Freeman’s idea, alongside his peers —Killer T, Enzo and Master H — has been embraced by fans nationwide.

These young “Turks” of showbiz have taken over, and they are simply unstoppable.
