FOUR months after it shattered records as the biggest outdoor women’s party held in Harare this year, Doek & Slay – a Sunday party exclusively for women – returns to Alex Sports Club on August 11.
More than 10 000 women trooped to the Doek & Slay event in April this year in what was a bold display of the strength of their concept by the organisers of the show.
The show was subsequently taken to other parts of the country – Bulawayo, Mutare and Gweru – where it was also a success.
Now, the organisers believe the women in the capital have waited long enough for the return of the show and have organised one on August 11.
“Yes, we are back in Harare on August 11 and we have already been selling the tickets for the show and the response has been awesome,” said the organisers.
“The feeling is that our patrons in Harare have missed the show and all the indications are that the next one will be the biggest we have held so far.”
The phase one tickets were sold between May 27 and June 20 and they were the cheapest.
The next batch of tickets are being sold until July 31.
There will also be a batch of tickets which will be sold between August 1 and August 11.
Freeman, Killer T and EXQ are the artists who will entertain the thousands of women expected to be part of the show.
There will also be jazz DJs who will be on rotation.
The dress code will be denim jeans, a white top, a doek and some shades.
Before the big one in Harare, Doek & Slay will be held in Kadoma on August 4 at the Odyssey.
Feli Nandi and Enzo Ishall will provide the entertainment.
After the Harare show, the Doek & Slay party will move to Bulawayo on August 18 where it will be held at the ZITF grounds.
Freeman and Enzo will provide the entertainment.
A week later, the show will roll into Gweru at the Gweru Sports Club where EXQ and Killer T will provide the entertainment.
On September 1, the show will roll into Mutare at the Mutare Sports Club before moving to Masvingo a week later.
On October 26, the show will move to Lusaka, Zambia.
There are plans to take the Doek & Slay show to Zimbabwean communities in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the United States.
