adminThis was said by the Resident Minister for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Ambassador Cain Mathema at a graduation ceremony at Lobengula Vocational Training Centre in Bulawayo yesterday.
Ambassador Mathema said civil servants continued to suffer also because of the illegal western sanctions.
“Civil servants have endured all the trouble that we have faced in this county because of the sanctions. They have survived on very low salaries and difficult conditions while many of them went to other countries for greener pastures,” said Ambassador Mathema.
He added that he was going to make sure that civil servants get housing stands to thank them for the hard work they have rendered to the Government.
A total number of 100 graduands graduated after completing six-month courses.
The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, Mr George Magosvongwe, challenged the graduands to seize opportunities to develop themselves.
“May I take this opportunity to challenge the graduands and the community of Lobengula and Bulawayo to take full advantage of the ongoing economic empowerment drive,” said Mr Magosvongwe.
He said the indigenisation policy was meant to empower all indigenous Zimbabweans and to ensure that they participate in all spheres of the economy.
“I urge all of you to exploit the courses and skills to participate in the economic rebuilding of our country. Take advantage and benefit from the Youth Development Fund to wipe out the employment-seeking syndrome and become employers yourselves,” he said.
Graduands, their parents and guests were entertained by New Age and Khaya Arts. After that the graduands were given their certificates for completing studies in home décor, catering, welding, carpentry and joinery and hairdressing.
Of the 100 graduands, 66 were women and 34 were men.
