Clean water for Zhombe villagers

Zanu-PF Midlands youth chairperson Cde Edmore Samambwa has facilitated the drilling of boreholes in Zhombe constituency in a move set to benefit over 1 000 villagers.

Two of the boreholes were drilled at St Paul’s and Champeni primary schools, while the other borehole is located at Sidakeni village.

In an interview, Cde Samambwa said access to clean water was everyone’s right.

“I realised that people from the constituency were having water challenges,” he said. “Villagers would walk for kilometres to fetch water from unprotected water sources like dams and rivers.

“Therefore, l took it upon myself to make sure that they have boreholes for their day to day activities like watering of plants, washing and doing other chores.”

The move is meant to make clean water easily accessible to villagers and pupils.

Cde Samambwa, who is also Zanu-PF candidate for Zhombe constituency, said he donated soccer kits and balls to schools and local football teams.

“I have also donated over 20 soccer kits and over 30 soccer balls to schools in Zhombe and to local football teams,” he said. “This is to promote development in communities through sports.”

Cde Samambwa said once voted, he will implement development projects in the constituency.

“Once voted, l will roll out development projects like construction of clinics, schools and community centres,” he said. “I will also construct and repair bridges that link communities with clinics, schools and other service centres. Some of the bridges were destroyed by the rains resulting in communities being disconnected.”
