MAINTAINING a clean and efficient kitchen is essential for a smooth cooking experience. Your four-plate gas stove, a centrepiece of your kitchen, deserves special attention when it comes to cleaning. Regular cleaning not only keeps your stove looking brand new but also ensures safety and enhances its performance. This week, we will walk you through the process of cleaning a four-plate gas stove.

Cleaning

Cleaning your four-plate gas stove does not have to be a daunting task. By following these simple steps, you can keep your stove looking spotless and ready for culinary adventures.

Gathering supplies: Before you start, gather all the necessary supplies. You will need a soft cloth, mild dish soap, warm water, baking soda, vinegar, a scrub brush and a microfibre piece of cloth.

Safety first: Ensure the gas supply is turned off and the stove is cool before you begin cleaning. Safety should always be your top priority.

Removing burner grates and drip pans: Start by removing the burner grates and drip pans. These parts can accumulate grease and food debris over time. Soak them in warm soapy water for about 15 to 20 minutes to loosen dirt.

Wipe down the surface: Using a soft piece of cloth dampened with soapy water, gently wipe down the surface of the stove. For stubborn stains, make a paste with baking soda and water, apply it to the stains, and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing with a non-abrasive scrub brush.

Burner grates, drip pans: After soaking, scrub the burner grates and drip pans with a scrub brush to remove any remaining residue. For stubborn stains, apply a mixture of equal parts vinegar and water, let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub.

Burner heads: Remove the burner heads and caps and soak them in warm soapy water. Gently scrub away any grime using a soft brush. Ensure the gas ports are clear to maintain proper gas flow.

Control knobs: Wipe the control knobs with a damp cloth soaked in soapy water. Be cautious not to let water seep into the knobs.

Stove top surface: For glass or ceramic stove tops, use a non-abrasive cleaner recommended by the manufacturer. For gas stove tops, wipe the surface with a microfibre piece of cloth and a mixture of vinegar and water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners that can damage the surface.

Reassembling: Once all components are clean and dry, reassemble the burner grates, drip pans, burner heads and control knobs.

Final touches: Give the stove top one final wipe-down with a clean, damp piece of cloth to remove any cleaning residue. Polish the surface to a shine with a dry microfibre piece cloth.
