Clearout looms at Chelsea

LONDON. — Antonio Conte will hold talks with unhappy Diego Costa in a bid to keep him at Chelsea.

But skipper John Terry appears to be on his way out and new boss Conte is ready to jettison goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and replace him with Southampton’s Fraser Forster.

Chelsea want to keep Eden Hazard, but fear his head has been turned by interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italy boss also wants to offer winger Juan Cuadrado the chance to revive his Chelsea career following an impressive loan at Juventus.

However, Costa will top Conte’s list of issues to resolve ahead of taking charge when Italy are knocked out of the European Championships.

Costa’s Chelsea teammates believe the Spain international has made up his mind and wants to leave England after two mixed seasons since joining from Atletico Madrid, who want to re-sign him.

Conte, though, is a fan of the striker who has an impressive record of 35 goals in 74 appearances but has also been involved in a number of controversies and complained of being singled out by officials and the FA.

Former Italian international midfielder and ex-Juventus boss will be handed significant transfer funds to get Chelsea challenging for honours again after a horror season. — The Mirror.
