Clerk of court kills self

responsible for handling exhibits and other material at the court.
Matabeleland South Police spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed the incident.
He said the Ministry of Justice employed the now deceased as a clerk of court at Beitbridge where he was responsible for keeping all exhibits for pending court cases.

Insp Ndebele said last year in November a 28-year-old woman, Tapiwa Priscilla Hilary Tapedza, from Beitbridge was arrested for stealing R224 000 from a foreign currency dealer, Wellington Chibaya, in the same town after promising to convert the money at a higher United States dollars rate.

He said only R116 500 was recovered from Tapedza, which was then given to Chimwe for safe keeping at the court. The case was then concluded in Gwanda where Tapedza was imprisoned for three years. Insp Ndebele said Chimwe then converted the money to his own use while the case was still pending.
