CPU to assess situation

He said they were worried about the community at Tshikwalakwala area, which is located at the confluence of the Bubi and Limpopo Rivers. He said the area was prone to floods especially during the rainy season.

A team of  health, roads and security technocrats among others would visit most problem areas to familiarise themselves with the situation on the ground. Mr Muleya who is also the district administrator said already two people had drowned this week in the district.

He said they were on high alert for any emergencies that may arise and would lookout for diseases prevalent in the area during this time of the year.

“Our partners from the ministry of Health and Child Welfare are conducting a surveillance of disease outbreaks which are common during times like these.

“So far we have recorded 22 cases of malaria in the district in a week and two with bilharzia at Zezani,” he said.
