Even fixed speed units have had to up their game with the latest government agreement in the Kyoto agreement of abolishing the use of ozone depleting substances commonly used such as R22 refrigerant.
However, sales of fixed speed split air conditioners (R22 on/off) will still contribute substantial numbers to the overall air conditioning market, until consumers become aware of the R22 ban expected in 2015.
Air-conditioning units have never been as affordable as they are now but consumers must resist the temptation to skimp on their installation outlay just because the air conditioner costs them less.
A good tradesman doing a good job is worth the extra money invested and manufacturers may limit the warranty provided if units are not installed by tradesmen with the relevant knowledge to install split air conditioners.
Climzone for over two years has been serving Zimbabwean contractors distributing the Midea range (pronounced My-Dea) of air- conditioners comprising, industrial units from Roof Top package units, VRF systems, Air-Cooled Chillers fixed speed splits and DC inverter split units.
DC inverters are the most energy efficient and also offer the most even temperature control.
A full range of capacities is on offer from 2,15kW small bedroom size units up to 7,6kW open plan models.

Selection of Units
There are three types of units on the market at the moment
l R22 on/off. This is the old model type which the United Nations and the air-conditioning installers and manufactures are trying to phase out based on the high running cost (power consumption) and the use of R22 refrigerant which is an ozone-depleting substance.
l R410A on/off: This is the replacement unit for the above, benefits of these units are basically the use of the 410a which is an Ozone friendly refrigerant.
l DC Inverter r410a: These are the units, mostly selected now by the smart individual and corporate companies as comes with the DC inverter technology.
Inverter systems save energy as continuous operation offers the same capacity with lower power consumption.
This benefits all occupants by maintaining even room temperature, as well as the environment (use of 410a) by reducing energy consumption.
