South Africa is experiencing extreme low temperatures.
Meteorological Services Department officer Ms Linia Mashawi said this condition was expected to intensify in Manicaland.
She said precipitation expected from these falls should be light.
“There should be a marked change from Wednesday August 8 to Friday August 10 where cloudy to overcast conditions should be expected over Mashonaland Provinces, Harare, Manicaland and Masvingo.
“There should also be a marked decrease in daytime temperatures, because of the expected cloudy conditions.
The Met Department said it expected a gradual decrease in cloudy conditions to the east of Zimbabwe with a rise in daytime temperatures from Saturday to Monday next week.
Ms Mashawi advised the public to keep themselves warm.
She said the risk of runaway fires should be high as vegetation is drying out. Therefore open fires should be discouraged.
The Met Department said winter normally stretches from May to September and this is also expected this year although it can end earlier.
Zimbabwe is a landlocked country and does not experience the traditional summer, autumn, winter and spring of temperate latitudes, due to its location to the north of the subtropical high-pressure belts.
