Coaches clash in challenge match

funds needed to drive the programmes lined up by the Soccer Coaches Union of Zimbabwe.
Moses Chunga, the interim leader of SCUZ, said coaches in the Northern Region will clash with their Southern Region counterparts in the challenge match.
The SCUZ has been on an aggressive membership drive and have pushed the mainstream Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association into the shade.
“We have organised a challenge match between the coaches from the Southern Region and the coaches from the Northern Region as part of our fund-raising drive,” said Chunga.
“We have a lot of projects that we have in the pipeline and they all need to be funded and we felt that organising such a game, which can attract a reasonable crowd, was one way of doing so.
“Our commitment is to see changes in the way football coaches in this country are treated and their welfare needs to be improved and we can only do that if we are united.’
Chunga said the challenge match will also act as a retreat for the coaches where they can meet and discuss the past season and the challenges they face going into the new season.
“We are delighted that a number of coaches are seeing the light and are now know what we stand for and they want to play their part in the organisation,” said Chunga.
Some of the coaches who have remained active, in social football circles, include national coach Norman Mapeza, Brenna Msiska, Albert “Dalala” Mabika, Eric Aisam, Newsome Mutema, Adam Ndlovu, Callisto Pasuwa, Luke Masomere to name but a few.
