REGISTRATION for a week-long Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association Level One Coaching Clinic starting on Monday in Bulawayo opened yesterday with a number of aspiring gaffers expected to attend the course.
The Zisca Bulawayo Metropolitan Province chairman Philani “Beefy” Ncube said registration is underway at MAP Ndlovu Brothers offices.
The course fee is $70.
He said for soccer to develop, they have to train as many people as possible that would then teach aspiring players the correct basics of the game.
“This is the beginning of our development thrust that we discussed in our previous meeting that for soccer to develop, we need qualified personnel who will spearhead these developmental programmes hence we are having this course so that schools and other interested entities can have knowledgeable people in charge. These people we train will give proper technical expertise to the players and help produce complete players who have a better understanding of the game.
“Our target people are teachers who are the ones who spend more time at grassroots levels, former players that want to venture into coaching and even administrators so that they understand some of the basics in football coaching as well as laws of the game. If we manage to equip teachers and everyone involved at grassroots with standard skills, that means we will be laying a proper foundation for future stars,” said Ncube.
The aspiring coaches will do theory which will include the laws of the game, sports medicine and practical coaching before writing examinations.
Meanwhile, Ncube challenged all Zisca Level Three and Four Coaching Certificates holders to register for the advanced Caf C Licence which will be conducted in Victoria Falls from 12-23 September.
“The Caf C Licence is coming for the first time to the Southern Region and as Zisca we are encouraging our members as well as teachers with Level Three and Four especially from this part of the country to attend the course.
“Those interested have a week left to raise the required $400 course fee and should contact Clement Bonda the Zisca Matabeleland North chairman before next Friday,” said Ncube.
