COWDARY Park and Sigola will clash in an outstanding Southern Region Women Division One soccer match over the weekend.
The rest of the teams in the league will resume with their fixtures on the weekend of 8-10 September after the league took a short break to pave way for the just ended Zimbabwe National Youth Games that were held in the city last week.
Fixtures secretary Bhekinkosi Ndlovu confirmed that the league action will resume next week.
“All the matches will resume next week after we took a break for the Youth Games, but Cowdray Park and Sigola will play their outstanding game this weekend,” said Ndlovu.
ZRP Bulawayo was supposed to have a match also but the police outfit has other commitments.
In an interview, Cowdray Park team manager Nkosilathi Hove said they are well prepared and they didn’t take a break as non of their players took part in the Youth Games girls’ soccer team.
“We have had good preparations with no disturbances as all our players were available, we didn’t have any players in the Youth Games team,” said Hove.
Cowdray Park have played fewer games this campaign than the rest of the teams because of their wrangle with the Lee Mangena owned Street Set over players.
Hove said they can now use the players who were a cause of the wrangle after the issue was solved in their favour.
Among those at the centre of the storm were Patience Siwela, Sandile Nyathi, Joana Jack and former Street Set captain Faith Ndlovu.
“They have been training with us, but they haven’t played any match, but I think they will get their chance this weekend,” he said.
Cowdray Park beat ZRP Bulawayo 4-0 in their last encounter.
