BASKETBALL Union of Zimbabwe president Joe Mujuru challenged participants at a basketball coaching clinic at Eveline High School last weekend to use the knowledge gained to develop the sport at grassroots level. Mujuru said the coaches were equipped with the fundamentals of basketball, and hoped the tips they learnt will go a long way in the development of basketball in the country. The Association of Primary School Heads, head-in-charge of basketball Dumisani Mathwasa said they were eager to witness significant improvement in the levels of basketball at primary school level.
A total of 54 primary school teachers participated in the basketball coaching clinic that started on Friday, before finishing the following day. The clinic was organised by NAPH in partnership with BUZ.
Thirty-five of the 54 teachers came from Bulawayo’s five districts namely Mzilikazi, Reigate, Khami, Imbizo and Bulawayo Central, while nine other teachers came from Tsholotsho, Zvishavane, Nkayi and Gifford High School.
