DEREK CHISORA has battered Tyson Fury’s boring digs at the heavyweight division and claimed he put the Saudi money men to sleep!
When the 37-year-old Gypsy King announced his latest comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov in February, he claimed he was ending an 18-month absence to save the sport from the dull new generation.
But 31-year-old WBO champ Fabio Wardley, his Saturday night challenger Daniel Dubois, 28, and 21-year-old punching prodigy Moses Itauma have been thrilling fans during his fifth faux retirement.
Fury eventually dominated the Russian bear-wrestler on April 11 but the most exciting part of the Tottenham show was his botched fight announcement with ringside Anthony Joshua.
And – ahead of the mouthwatering Wardley and Dubois war in Manchester – Chisora has clapped back at his three-fight rival and revealed that the two biggest powerbrokers in boxing, Dr. Rakan AlHarthy and Turki Al-Sheikh, were turned off by the Netflix show.
On SunSport’s No Glove Lost show, Chisora said: “I know the Gypsy King said the heavyweight game was boring because he was away.
“But I went to Tottenham and Dr Rakan fell asleep watching his fight.
“And even Turki Al-Sheikh had to get up and say: ‘do something!’
“I could hear a penny drop, it was so quiet in there.
“It was so boring that the comeback was not a comeback we thought he’d be coming back with.
“The only thing that was exciting was when he did the whole WWE calling out AJ on the ring and trying to make a Netflix show, but to be honest with you, I thought it was boring.
“I’m happy he’s back now, but it’s about Fabio and Dubois.”
FIFTY-fight veteran Chisora, 42, sparred the Suffolk puncher when he was an unknown white collar slugger working in a recruitment office.
Chisora’s most ruthless rival, Dillian Whyte, spotted that raw talent and has mentored Wardley all the way to world title gold.
And Delboy says those hard early spars – against some of the most dangerous men in the game – are what has shaped the brave and helpful boy into an Ipswich man mountain.
“I think it comes from when he would spar me and Dillian,” Chisora said about his freakish grit.
“He’s sparred everybody to just learn the game and just toughen it out.
“When we had a big fight, we would call Fabio down for a couple of rounds.
“And, guess what, every time he would say ‘yes, what time’.
“And he was always there, to help others.
“But at the same time when he’s helping us, he’s helping himself.
“And now God has put him in the right place at the right time.” – Sun
