Cold weather persists

THE latest cold front will persist across most parts of Zimbabwe today and into the weekend, bringing chilly winds and scattered rainfall.

There were isolated rains in Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Masvingo, and Matabeleland South yesterday.

The Meteorological Services Department has indicated that the south-easterly inflow continues to bring in moisture resulting in isolated thunderstorms and drizzle in some parts of the country.

Today, the department has indicated that it will be partly cloudy, windy and cool over all provinces except Matabeleland North, where it will be windy, mostly clear skies and mild.

“In the afternoon sunny and warm conditions are expected across the country,” said the MSD.

The department urged the public to take note of the sudden fluctuations of temperatures as they have negative effects on humans adding that the public should take necessary precautions to adjust to the rapid changes.

Cold conditions may affect the health of vulnerable members of society triggering respiratory illnesses such as flu and colds.
