THE University of Science and Technology (Nust)’s Color Funk team will be holding a five-kilometre Color run on 5 October as an initiative to raise awareness on breast cancer.
The run is also to donate sanitary pads for Nust students who are in need.
The sports gala which runs under the theme “Light up Nust behold a new era” will take place at Nust campus and it will be open for all students, faculties.
Community members are also invited to participate.
Nust’s Color Funk team is a non-profit student body made up of eight students dedicated to supporting the Nust student community and advocating for the health of the girl child.
One of the members of the group, Pabalo Siziba, said the health issues around campus led them to come up with such an initiative.
“We are one Nust, a healthy mind makes one a better student. Nust is part of the Zimbabwean community and we are a part of them, 100 percent health is our greatest priority.
“Our fellow sisters are the most affected and they need these sanitary pads for their cleanliness, worse with this economic crisis it’s not everyone who can afford to buy the sanitary pads.”
Siziba also said as a team, they were encouraging students, lecturers and the community to be involved in this initiative as it also benefitted their children as well who are in the institution.
