Come to my church or else we divorce: Hubby orders wife

Nhlalwenhle Ncube

REAL dilemma!

There are lot of issues in their marriage which her husband brings up and it’s taking away her happiness.

The classic one was when he gave her an ultimatum to either join his church or get a divorce.

As if to add salt to the wound, Sithandazile Mkandla is pregnant and her husband Arthur Ncube accuses her of acting irresponsibly by getting pregnant unexpectedly.

Mkandla was left with no choice, but to seek for help from the courts as she was about to be thrown out on the streets.

“I am applying for a protection order against my husband who is ordering me to leave the house where we reside and rent somewhere while I am pregnant.

“He even states that this pregnancy came unexpectedly. He is violating my denominational rights, forcing me to join his church and he threatens to separate with me if I do not adhere. He says if I want to stay with him I must leave my church,” said Mkandla.

She also said that their denominational differences had also caused her husband to accuse her of bringing bad luck in their union.

“He also accuses me of bad omen and claims that I am responsible for them. He is not even paying school fees for children, not buying groceries and clothing,” said the traumatised woman.

Ncube acknowledged everything that had been stated by his wife saying: “We have problems and before she came here we wanted to engage elders.”

The Western Commonage magistrate Urgent Vundla granted the interim order.
