ZANU PF affiliates have been challenged to come up with authentic registers of their members to ensure the growth of the party.
So far, the party has registered over 60 affiliates that are involved in mobilisation activities.
Speaking at a farewell party hosted for retiring Zanu PF director for commissariat Dr Davison Gomo in Harare, national political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said all affiliate organisations should come up with proper registers of their members as required by the party.
“We are calling upon all affiliate organisations in their different forms to come up with registers of their members so that they continue to grow the party,” said Cde Machacha.
He paid tribute to the ruling party strategists for setting up vibrant party affiliates, which played a crucial role in mobilising the electorate during the August 2023 general elections.
Cde Machacha commended the strategic role played by Dr Gomo in moulding several affiliates to become a vibrant arm of the ruling party.
“When I came to the Commissariat Department, I was told of these affiliates and I realised that Dr Gomo was the architect of moulding them, which gives incremental value to the Commissariat,” Cde Machacha said.
“After working under four national political commissars, Dr Gomo rallied members to continue defending the ruling party by shunning divisive tendencies.”
In his address, Dr Gomo said he would remain a Zanu PF cadre.
“I am retiring from my position but will remain a Zanu PF cadre for life – but my words of advice are that hundreds of people sacrificed their lives for this country because they wanted to enjoy the gains of the independence but some of them failed to do so – so all of us here we must defend our hard-won independence and never allow Western sponsored elements interfering in our country through their proxies.”
The farewell party was attended by several dignitaries, Zanu PF affiliates, legislators, friends and relatives.
Among the affiliates organisations are Miners for ED, Boys Dzamudara, Teachers for ED, Young Women for ED, ConCode Young Women in Business, Men BelievED, Vapositori for ED, Diaspora for ED, Soccer Legends for ED, Lawyers for ED, Varakashi for ED, Single Mothers for ED,
Protocol for ED, and Cross Border Traders for ED.
