THE Shepherds Foundation Trust, in partnership with Msasa Park Private Limited, Mumba Creations, BTC Law Chambers and Morris Rock Resources held a free wellness event at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe last Friday.
The event, which provided complimentary eye screenings and reading spectacles, primarily targeted visual artists, journalists and creatives to enhance productivity and improve the overall well-being of attendees.
Mr Darius Mutamba, the director of the Shepherds Foundation, said the initiative reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to empowering creatives through accessible healthcare.
“This effort underscores our dedication to promoting the welfare of Zimbabwe’s artistic community. Poor eyesight should not be a barrier to creative excellence,” he said.
Sponsors such as Msasa Park and Morris Rock Resources extended the initiative by donating two years’ worth of school fees, food hampers, sunscreen lotion, lip balm and prescription glasses to three children living with albinism from Chiredzi.
The aid package is expected to ease the financial burden on the affected families, ensuring the students’ continued education and improving their quality of life.
Also present at the event, BTC Law Chambers provided free legal consultations, offering legal guidance and support to attendees in need of counsel.
Mr Runyararo Nyakudya, representing the sponsors, confirmed that the wellness initiative was the first in a series of planned outreach programmes.
He highlighted an upcoming event scheduled for June, aimed at supporting students during International Albinism Awareness Day.
“This is just the beginning,” Mr Nyakudya said.
“We intend to reach more underprivileged communities throughout Zimbabwe as part of our broader mission to drive social impact.”
Communications Liaison for the Shepherds Foundation Trust, Mr Bruce Chimbinde, expressed gratitude to sponsors and stakeholders for their involvement.
“We sincerely thank all who contributed to making this event a success,” he said. “Your generosity has made a measurable difference in the lives of our beneficiaries.”
Legal advisor and Foundation member, Mr Farayi Zuva, encouraged greater participation in upcoming events.
“We call upon members of the community to take full advantage of these initiatives. They are designed to deliver real, lasting support,” he said. said.
