Comedian Carl Joshua pens book

ZIMBABWEAN stand-up comedian Carl Joshua Ncube has penned a book that is inspired by real life experiences dating back to 2009 before he ventured into the comedy industry.
The book titled ‘‘40 Days that changed me’’ is a revelation of some of the hardships that he went through when he was living in Botswana. He said this period was the most difficult time in his life as he was homeless at one point and did not have anyone to turn to for help.

“I was going through quite a bit in my life; I had a very bad break-up and lost everything. I had so many problems to the extent of getting depressed as nothing was working out positively,” said Carl.

The comedian said when writing the book, his aim was to help and give hope to many people who might have gone through the same hurdles that he went through.

He said the book would give them the courage to face their problems rather than running away from them.
“Problems are never meant to stay but to be conquered. Some of the information in the book is shocking news to my friends because they do not know that I went through such hard times. I told myself that I will overcome any situation that was trying to pull me down because I had a better picture of what I wanted to be in life,” he said.

Despite financial challenges, Carl did not look back but went on to produce an e-book that will be available to the people who have access to the internet not only in Zimbabwe but all over the world.

“I am still working on getting funds to publish my book so that people can buy it at local bookshops. At the moment people can enjoy the book in the comfort of their homes or anywhere through their phones and laptops,” he said.

The book has been received well by people in the country as it has hit more than 2 100 downloads in a space of one week. He said people have been giving him positive feedback which gives him the strength to want to add more chapters to the book.

“I am very happy and humbled by the way people have been downloading my book for the past week. I am getting positive feedback for each chapter which is very encouraging especially at this time when it is my first book and still needs some editing here and there,” said Carl.

In 2001 when he was about to graduate from nursing school in England, he was denied a renewal visa to complete his studies. He contemplated committing suicide as he had seen that graduation at the school of nursing was now bleak.

The comedian will be travelling around the country promoting his book and talking about his life experiences.
