BULAWAYO came alive as selfless individuals and organisations were celebrated for their outstanding service to humanity at The CADAV Organisation’s annual philanthropic AWARDS recently
Held in partnership with Queen of Peace Rehabilitation Centre and sponsored by Jonathan Thompson of Thompson Developments, the awards recognise selfless citizens who empower their communities through philanthropy.

Thompson, the event’s guest of honour, expressed his pride at supporting the initiative.
“I have done much philanthropy myself, which a lot of people do not know about, and it is really a pleasure to finally be the one to sponsor the event so that these people can get recognition,” he said.

The awards, founded by Dr Lot Mudhimburanwa in 2019, have grown to become a prestigious platform, previously hosted at venues such as the HICC and Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.
This year’s ceremony recognised 20 outstanding leaders and organisations, including Thompson Developers, which was applauded for donating to churches and charities, creating youth employment opportunities, and supporting community projects.

Other top honours included:
• Dr Chakwenya, praised for rescuing vulnerable children and mobilising resources for their welfare.
• Dr Ruramai CC Mugwisi, acknowledged for championing women’s empowerment through the Total Women Forum.
• Dr Stella Khumalo Punungwe, celebrated for establishing rehabilitation centres promoting mental health and well-being.
• Lionel Mazarire, the Junior President of Zimbabwe, who walked away with the Best Youth Leader Award for his advocacy work empowering young people.
• The Pan African Institute, recognised for fostering unity and cooperation across African nations.

Dignitaries in attendance included Dr Chinyoka of the ZNA, Dr Nixon Kainga of Good News Church, and Dr Johnson Sibanda.
Dr Mudhimburanwa closed the event with a call for continued service:

“To our esteemed awardees, I offer my warmest congratulations. May your exemplary work continue to inspire others, shine a beacon of hope, and make a lasting impact in our world.”
