But Karoi magistrate, Mr Elisha Singano, suspended three months on condition of good behaviour and the remaining nine months on condition Matashu performed the community service at Marere Clinic in Tengwe.
Matashu pleaded guilty to the charges of having sex with a heifer.
Prosecutor, Mr Benjamin Negato, said that around 7am on August 24 this year, Matashu went to the fields where some cattle belonging to Henry Tandabute were grazing.
He separated a black heifer from the herd and drove it to a nearby tree where he became intimate with the animal.
While Matashu was busy in the act, Tandabute noticed him from a distance before he drew closer to investigate.
Tandabute caught Matashu red-handed and reported the matter to police.
