The four-man gang shot and killed Mr Allan Keith Nicholson (61) as he tried to rescue his neighbour Mr Timothy Morgan they had abducted. Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara last week said they were following some leads but nothing concrete had come up.
“We are still carrying out investigations into the shooting with a view to arrest the culprits but there is nothing concrete so far.
“However, we would like to urge anyone with information that could help in cracking this case to approach Chinhoyi CID or their nearest police station,” he said.
Four armed robbers pounced on at Mr Morgan’s No 196 Gold Dust home in Mazvikadei on Tuesday afternoon and identified themselves as CID operatives who were investigating a case of theft of a laptop.

They were allowed into the house by Mrs Beverley Morgan before producing two pistols and rounded her up together with her two gardeners and a maid while waiting for her husband Timothy to arrive later that evening. They demanded money and other valuables and got US$400, two cellphones.
Mr Morgan who owns Morgan Service Station in Banket came home and was immediately handcuffed. They ransacked the house and took an HP laptop, US$1 200 cash and a .22 rifle with 50 live rounds They demanded keys to the safe. Two of the men force-marched the still handcuffed man into his Toyota Hilux double cab while the others drove in their white Honda CVR getaway car and drove to the service station for more money.
Those left in the house later managed to untie themselves and sought help from a neighbour and now late Mr Nicholson (61) and two others who made a follow-up in a bid to rescue Mr Morgan who had been taken hostage.
On approaching the 1,5km peg along the Banket Raffingora Road, the rescue party came across the robbers parked on the side of the road. Mr Nicholson shot at the robbers and they exchanged fire. He was shot on the chest and collapsed The robbers drove off at high speed with the loot in their getaway car leaving Mr Morgan in his car.
Mr Nicholson died on admission at Banket District Hospital.
