A CHEEKY small house who called her ex-lover’s wife a “filthy dog that could not satisfy her man,” was yesterday beginning 105 hours of community service after being found guilty of using abusive language.

Bulawayo provincial magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo convicted Patience Mpofu, 28, of insulting Silindile Ncube, 37, and sentenced her to a wholly suspended three months in prison on condition that she performs the community service at Nkulumane Police station.

Mpofu faced a charge of using abusive language and sending an insulting message.

Her message read: “. . . Listen you filthy dogs, stop troubling me, this is my phone it’s not a public phone. Just solve your problems, don’t go around accusing other people for your fake marriage. As for you woman or you’re a young lady, you’re a fool. Give your husband what he needs and satisfy him more . . . (sic).”

Mpofu told the court that she and Ncube’s husband used to be lovers.

“I admit to having insulted her. I was very angry when I sent the message because she had insulted me first. I retaliated,” she said.

Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza told the court that on March 17 this year, Mpofu sent a message on Ncube’s cellphone insulting her.

Ncube didn’t respond to the message but proceeded to the police to report the matter, leading to Mpofu’s arrest.
